Pumps: start with the operating requirement
| Requirement | What to clarify |
|---|---|
| Flow and head | Required duty point rather than separate maximum ratings. |
| Pumped liquid | Liquid identity, temperature and concentration where relevant. |
| Installation | Connection dimensions, available space and existing system information. |
| Documentation | Performance curve, materials and operating limits for the proposed model. |
Motors: read the complete nameplate
Power is only one part of a motor requirement. Record rated voltage, frequency, speed and the manufacturer’s identification. Confirm the mechanical interface and application requirements before reviewing an alternative. A motor with the same power rating is not automatically an interchangeable replacement.
Make supplier offers comparable
| Review area | Procurement question |
|---|---|
| Scope | Does the offer include the same accessories and documents? |
| Technical fit | Are the operating requirement and installation interfaces addressed? |
| Delivery | What is the confirmed lead time, packing and delivery term? |
| After delivery | What manuals and agreed support provisions accompany the equipment? |
Prepare a practical enquiry package
- Application and operating requirements.
- Existing model and nameplate photos, if available.
- Interface drawings or installation dimensions.
- Quantity, destination and requested documents.
Use the manufacturer’s model-specific information
This guide helps organise a sourcing enquiry. Final selection and commissioning require model-specific technical information and review by the responsible engineering personnel.
